RACIAL HARMONY DAY 2008
SECONDARY 1 DANCE COMPETITION
THEME : UNITY IN DIVERSITY
Based on the theme for the Racial Harmony Day 2008 (RHD ’08), all secondary 1 classes are invited to participate in a dance competition. The top three classes will stand to win attractive prizes and showcase their dance on RHD on 21st July 2008.
DANCE GUIDELINES
· Dance presentations must be relevant to the theme., which can be based on students’ perception of the theme
· Dance presentations must include integration of cultures
· Although there is no limit on the number of performers in each presentation, every dance must be made up of students from the same class.
· Maximum time allotted for each presentation will be approximately (5) minutes. (A timer will be used.)
· An oral introduction MUST precede the dance presentation. Introductions should not exceed one minute,.
· Costumes, stage props, and music are the responsibility of the participants and should be kept to a minimum for easy set-up and removal.
· Stage set-up is limited to two (2) minutes.
· Judges will award points as indicated in the following criteria:
Relevance to the theme
Integration of cultures
Originality of the presentation
Clarity of the presentation
Entertainment value
INSTRUCTIONS
All Secondary 1 classes MUST SUBMIT THEIR PROPOSALS BY THURSDAY 16th May 2008 to Miss Sylvia Khoo by 1200hrs.
Use the attached form for your proposal, and it should clearly include the following:
Class and contact person
Title of the dance presentation
Synopsis on the presentation and its relevance
Duration
Number of performers
Technical requirements
The proposal is here on inet
Auditions are on 20th may.
Hurry! cos the deadline for the proposal is either 15 or 16 may. (because 15 may is a thurs and 16 may is a friday)
